Day 4 - Granddaddy
This a short poem inspired by memories of my Grandaddy. Along with my father, he is one of the greatest men I have ever known. He passed away in August 2012.
NameJosh Reeves
Granddaddy
Red dirt stain beneath your nails, another harvest gone to hail.
Body, soul, blood, sweat and tears, praying still in times of fear.
Raised your kids the Lord to know, a quiet life with love to show.
Spent your days to work the ground, an honest wage there you found.
Big and tall you walked the land, your words were wise with gentle hand.
West Texas skies you left behind, the lessons there still on my mind.
